Guidelines on the Strict Implementation of the Minimum Labelling Requirements for Imported Meat

Minimum Labelling Requirement 

  1. Meat import arrivals within the period of 04 August 2021 to 30 September 2021, which are non-conforming to the minimum labelling requirements but have passed inspection at the port and cold storage warehouses (provided, that the violation does not constitute misrepresentation, misbranding, false claim, and other deliberate ats), shall be held in abeyance, and be released only upon the consignee/importer’s compliance on modification of labels which meet the minimum requirements, as approved by the DA, BAI, and NMIS. Non-compliance to the required modification of labels, as approved by DA, BAI and NMIS, shall be subject to confiscation and disposal. 
  2.  Meat import arrivals starting 01 October 2021, which are non-conforming to the minimum labelling requirements, shall be seized and held in abeyance, and subject for confiscation and disposal. 
  3.  The BAI and the NMIS reserves its right to hold shipments/import arrivals, not complying to the Philippines rules and regulations, for further investigation. 
  4.  The importer/consignee shall bear the expenses (included, but not limited to, destruction, storage and labor) incurred in the confiscation and disposition of the shipment.
